The opportunity
We are now looking for a Technical Support Engineer at Hitachi Energy, Grid Automation business in Vaasa, Finland.
In this role you will be responsible for providing advanced global technical support, troubleshooting, and consultation for MicroSCADA customers and internal stakeholders. The role focuses on analyzing complex customer cases, identifying root causes, resolving application and configuration issues, and ensuring reliable system performance. The position requires strong technical ownership, close collaboration with R&D, Service, project teams, and customer-facing organizations, and a customer-oriented mindset to deliver high-quality support and guidance.
How you’ll make an impact
- Analyze complex customer cases to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Investigate application issues, system malfunctions, and configuration-related challenges to ensure reliable system performance.
- Provide advanced technical support through our customer support portal, delivering timely and professional assistance.
- Advise customers and internal teams on software and firmware updates, patch management, system optimization, and best practices.
- Perform technical validations, proof-of-concept testing, and customer demonstrations to support new solutions and product enhancements.
- Deliver technical training sessions for customers, channel partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Develop and continuously improve training materials and supporting resources to reflect evolving products, features, and customer needs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring issues, sharing lessons learned, and proposing enhancements.
Your background
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Automation, or a related technical field.
- Strong experience in technical support, SCADA engineering, application engineering, commissioning, or a similar technical role.
- Solid hands-on experience with MicroSCADA systems is required.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Excellent collaboration skills, including experience working with international and cross-functional teams.
- Strong ownership mindset, assertiveness, and accountability for assigned tasks and customer issues.
- Fluent written and spoken English; additional languages are considered an advantage.
- Willingness to travel occasionally based on business and customer needs.
