Technical Drafter, Structural Design

• The Technical Drafter will create and develop structural 2D drawings for hull basic design using AutoCAD in Helsinki Shipyard's hull structure team.
• The role involves working on several ship projects from early design stages to completed vessels while combining independent work with teamwork.
• Candidates need a suitable technical or engineering background, experience in 2D technical drawing and AutoCAD, accuracy, and good English.

We are looking for a Technical Drafter to join our competent hull structure design team. Currently, we have about 35 designers in the team, and we are growing. Around 2/3 of the team focuses on basic design and calculations, and the other part focuses on production design and production support.

In this role, you will be a key player in the basic design of ships in the yard's hull design department. Your main responsibility will be creating and developing structural 2D drawings using AutoCAD. You will work with existing templates and technical specifications, selecting the appropriate solutions based on classification rules and defined structural requirements.

Your work will be strongly focused on technical drawing and design. You will work on several ship projects and get the opportunity to follow the projects from the early design stages all the way to the completed vessel. While previous experience in shipbuilding is an advantage, it is not required – you will have the opportunity to learn about ship design, classification requirements, and the entire shipbuilding process in the role.

Your work is independent, but you also need teamwork skills when working as a part of the hull design team, as well as the yard's extensive design organization.

To succeed in this role, you need:

• A suitable technical or engineering background

• Experience with technical 2D drawing and design

• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar software

• Accuracy and an interest in detail-oriented technical design work

• Good communication skills in English

• Experience in structural drawings, Classification Society Rules, or ship design is seen as an advantage, but these can also be learned in the role
